Unreservedly Me

Fuck It!

bitmoji1873194955Sometimes you just have to throw your hands up and say “Fuck It”! This week I had to do that! When you try to hard to do something and keep getting met with a brick wall, you just have to say “Fuck It”.

In these past few weeks of training for my new title, I was ‘supposed’ to be training folks to do the things I was previously doing and will no longer be doing. All that while learning my new job. Fun right? Nah, I thought it would be fought with some issues. But you can force someone to learn something they are so hell bent on not learning. You would think my work was Rocket Science or something.

At one point, I was told “I’m doing my job and yours.” I wanted so badly to say, no it’s your job now. But I didn’t, I got so frustrated I bitched about it all yesterday. I spoke with my boss and explain the situation so I can cover my ass. Today, I walked into work like if you wanna learn I’m here, if not that’s cool too. Needless to say, I spent the bulk of my day learning my new job.

I’m a faster learner and if I don’t understand I will ask questions. My new unit seems pleased with my ability to learn efficiently and effectively. That is great for me, I see more promotions in my future.

I wrote this post to vent but help someone, if they are experiencing the same as me. I know its nothing new. But know that as long as you attempted to do your job, you can’t help it if those who are put in places to learn don’t want to learn. At that point the manager should be made aware and you move on. Unless instructed otherwise.

  1. Oh, I certainly understand. I have trained people in the past, and some would just look at me in admiration. They would focus on my language (as in, how does a black male speak so eloquently and with such knowledge?), how I was dressed, and other foolish things, none which have anything to do with the task(s) at hand. Yes, if they don’t learn from the training, then you simply let your supervisor know and keep it movin’. If that’s their current level of focus, then it will lead to their ultimate demise: termination. Thank God for blogging! We have this positive, productive outlet to vent when needed.

    1. Yes, thanks God for blogging. Lol and yes when you are learning something you should focus on what you need to learn not trivial stuff.

  2. Hey Sunny. I saw where you spoke of dealing with the loss of your mom, especially around this time of year. And it spoke to me. I lost my sister at the end of September in a tragic way and we (close relatives and myself) had decided against celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years because it wouldn’t feel the same.

But after thinking long and hard about how my sister’s loving spirit remains near, we felt like that’s even more reason to celebrate. Since the death of my dad’s mom in my early teen, I hadn’t experienced the loss of a loved one in the same capacity. And this is the first heart-breaking experience for my nieces and nephews.

I guess what I’m trying to say is who knows when the next loved one will be lost? Who knows when we’ll wish we could have more time with a loved one that has passed away? Since we don’t know, it’s a blessing to be fortunate enough to enjoy as much time as possible, especially during holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.

God bless you Sunny. I feel your loss.

    1. Thank you for this Don. Yes this time will be hard for me and my family. But we will push through it. We know my mom loved the holidays and will find a way to keep that going. You know?
